James Roy Hume

Obituary for James Roy Hume

July 18, 1953 - May 3, 2018
Wailuku, Hawaii | Age 64

James Roy Hume, 64, went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2018 at Hospice Maui Hale, surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with leukemia.

Jim married Carol Rose (Branca) Hume 43 years ago. She was by his side during every step of his battle. They shared a strong, loving bond and devotion to each other.

Jim was a dear father of James J Hume, Andrew J (Julie) Hume, and Christy A (Brian) Takemoto, sweet PawPaw to David, Mary Grace and John Hume, Isabella and Lily Takemoto, dear brother of Patti (Dave) Bailey and Ed Hume, dear brother-in-law of Terry (Tim) Dolan and John (Janice Crowley) Branca, our dear uncle, nephew and cousin, and best friend of Matt (Susan) Brown.

Born on July 18, 1953, he was raised in Florissant, Missouri. The son of James E and Dorothy (Kirkpatrick) Hume, he spent his more recent years in West St Louis County. Jim and Carol were able to enjoy the peaceful nature of Maui, Hawaii for the last four months of his life.

His quiet, humble demeanor and quick wit are how his loved ones remember him. He remembered and honored those that came before him, in a way that very few of us do. He had true hobbies: genealogy, baseball card collecting and stained glass making, among others. He worked hard at his day to day IT job but especially loved working with his hands. He would be the first to offer help to move or fix things.

He was a man without enemies; gentle yet strong in will and physical strength. His family will cherish their memories, remember his lessons and strive to live up to the example that he has set for them.
